Ferrolic-LF® Tablets (Ferrous sulphate + Folic Acid)
Ferrolic-LF® Tablets is specifically formulated for the prevention of iron and folic acid deficiency. Iron is regularly and incompletely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, the main site of absorption being the duodenum and jejunum. Absorption is aided by the acid secretion of the stomach or by dietary acids. Absorption is increased in conditions of iron deficiency or in the fasting state. Folic acid absorbed in the proximal small intestines, particularly the duodenum. After absorption, folic acid is rapidly converted into its metabolically active forms and approximately two-thirds is bound to plasma protein. Half of the folic acid stored in the body is found in the liver. Iron is found principally as haemoglobin. Storage in the form of ferritin occurs in the liver, spleen, and bone marrow. Concentrations of plasma iron and the total iron-binding capacity of plasma vary greatly in different physiological conditions and disease states.
